Trading Activities in Glodok Run Normally

Prior to the 2014 presidential election result dispute verdict that will be announced by the Constitutional Court (MK), Thursday (8/21), the situation in Glodok electronic shopping center, West Jakarta, is tightly guarded by hundreds of joint personnel from TNI, police, Satpol PP, and local security officers.

Based on beritajakarta.com observations, fully uniformed personnel are spread to some points along Jalan Hayam Wuruk, precisely around Harco Glodok and HWI Lindeteves buildings. Even so, trading activities still running normally with many buyers come there.

Subandi (52), owner of Sinar Abadi electronic store in Harco Glodok, admitted that he does not worry with the situation prior to MK verdict.

“I am optimistic that even though there is a massive deployment of masses today, the citizens’ way of thinking is wiser. Thus, whatever the verdict is, although there was a riot, I and my friends will still open our stores,” he uttered.

Meanwhile, Tamansari Sector Police Chief AKBP Tri Suhartanto said that as many as 300 policemen are deployed to guard Glodok area which is one of the vital objects in the capital city.

“300 policemen are deployed. In addition, there is also assistance from TNI, Satpol PP, and shopping center’s security officers. Until now, the condition remains conducive and trading activities are still running normally,” he stated.
